The Rivière-du-Loup region has a healthcare and social services network at its disposal which ensures accessible and quality services for the region’s population.
Over 1,500 people are employed at the Rivière-du-Loup healthcare and social services center, including 92 doctors, 55 of whom are specialists. In addition to a regional hospital center, there are many services offered in various facilities.
As part of this network, there are private sector services. Increasing in number and spreading throughout the region, we find doctors and other healthcare professionals as well as social services providers in private practice.
Two childcare centers (CPE) offer their service in a facility or in a family environment. They welcome children from birth to five years old. In total, there are 7 facilities providing 288 places. Add to that number, 360 places available in family environment care. Two facilities are under development, which means there will be 107 additional places available starting in the winter of 2010. For a child on the waiting list, a form must be filled out on the site LaPlace 0-5. Lastly, there is a pre-kindergarten and kindergarten school which uses the Montessori teaching method.
