The municipality of Saint-Modeste is located about 15 km southeast of Rivière-du-Loup. Its economic activities rely on agriculture, the forest and peat bog exploitation. One of Québec’s largest public plant nurseries is found in Saint-Modeste. Like the village of Saint-Antonin, several businesses extract gravel and sand from the moraine which intersects its territory.

Saint-Modeste’s residents have access to a vast network of recreational trails: cross country skiing, snowmobile and all terrain vehicle (ATV) trails and bicycle paths are all part of the Route verte (the Petit-Témis linear park).
